Choosing a Religious Person for Nikah
Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said, "A woman is married for four reasons: 1. Because of nobility. 2. Because of wealth. 3. Because of beauty. 4. Because of religion. O listener, you should marry a religious woman." Mishkaat, 2/267
*Benefit*: It is seen that people mostly look at wealth in marriage and least at religion. Whereas there should be less attention toward wealth and beauty, and more focus on religiosity compared to that. Because due to religion the mutual relationship remains good, the couple finds peace in it, they recognize each other's rights and fulfill them, due to which both live a life of comfort and tranquility.
Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said, "After taqwa of allah ta'ala, the best thing a believer chooses for himself is a righteous, beautiful wife. The special beauty of a wife is that if the husband gives her an order, she obeys it. When the husband looks at her, she pleases his heart with her beauty and pure character. When he makes her swear an oath, she fulfills that oath, meaning she prioritizes her husband's wish over her own desire. And in the husband's absence she protects her chastity and the husband's wealth." Mishkaat, 2/268
This hadith mentioned in part 16 describes the qualities of a righteous pious woman: 1. Obedient to the husband. 2. Pleases the husband's heart by serving him. 3. Prioritizes the husband's wish over her own desire. 4. Protects her chastity and purity and is mindful of it. 5. Protects the husband's wealth.
