The reality of dawah work sayings of ibn qayyim and principles of tabligh
Ibn qayyim rahmatullah alaih said:
Whoever does not do the work of dawah cannot claim to follow the noble prophet ï·º. Do not be proud that you are wealthy or hold high rank. Be proud that you are a worker of allah and one who does the work of the noble prophet ï·º.
Do you stop performing hajj because of the bad manners of some haji? Do you stop praying because of the bad manners of some worshipper? Then why do you stop tabligh because of the bad manners of tabligh workers?
Do not say that we have seen the tabligh people. Look at the work and whose work it is. We are only postmen and intermediaries. Do not say that I am doing the work of the messenger of allah ï·º, because saying this produces pride. Among the sahaba kiraam, no one said we are doing the work of a prophet. Rather, they only conveyed the message.
When rustam asked, he was told: we have come with the message of allah. It is the truth. But while working, also maintain fear.
Avoid every talk that produces pride. Words of pride slowly bring a person down. For tarbiyat, time is needed. There is a system of time for it. Whoever gives time for allah, allah will fill his heart with the light of wisdom.
Tabligh does not just mean forming groups or gatherings, but changing qualities and certainty in the ummah. Guidance is in allah’s control. He may give it to anyone. So work hard for everyone. It may be that what is not destined for our children is destined for our neighbor.
If one waits for the guidance of family members, then hazrat nuh alaihis salam could not have done tabligh, because his son and wife did not accept iman.
It is not our responsibility to set someone right, but it is our duty to make the effort to set right. When obligations are being abandoned, then tabligh becomes obligatory. There is an incident that in multan, one companion asked 21 people the name of our prophet, and 19 did not know. When such conditions exist in homes, sitting idle is a great wrong, there is no excuse for it.
Go with consultation, avoid self-opinion and following desires. Avoid sarcasm and objections, because sarcasm breaks the ummah.
Keep your hearts alive. Put your heart in the quran, put your heart in the work of deen, and also put your heart in solitude.
