Importance of Nikah and Blessings of Marriage for Chastity
Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said, "O group of young men, whoever among you has the ability for intimacy and its requirements, meaning the ability to provide maintenance for wife and children and pay mahr, should marry. Because nikah protects the gaze and safeguards the private parts. And whoever does not have the ability for the requirements of intimacy should fast, because fasting will benefit him like castration." Bukhari, Muslim
Meaning just as sexual desire ends with castration, similarly sexual desire decreases by fasting.
*Explanation*:
Two major benefits of nikah are mentioned in this hadith:
1. Protection of the eyes from looking at haram places.
2. Protection from fulfilling desire through haram acts.
*Blessing of Nikah for Chastity*:
Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said, "There are three people whose help is obligatory upon allah ta'ala according to His promise:
1. The mukatab slave who intends to pay his contractual amount for freedom.
2. The one who marries with the intention of avoiding haram.
3. The one who does jihad in the path of allah ta'ala." Rawah tirmizi v nasai v ibne maaja, Mishkaat 2/267
*Benefit*:
Whoever intends marriage only for the sake of chastity, even if he does not have abundant wealth, should not worry and should not delay marriage because of this. Rather, he should find a suitable match and marry immediately. Allah ta'ala will fulfill all needs through His unseen help and in sha allah will grant sufficiency.
