We Are Travelers in This World

We Are Travelers in This World

My friends, we are strangers. This world is not our real homeland. The real homeland is jannah, and this world is a place of temporary stay. We are here for some time and are being tested.

We are all travelers, and this journey continues at all times. Whether we are sleeping or awake, whether we realize it or not, whether it is winter or summer, whether it is spring or autumn, whether we are standing or sitting, whether we are in our homeland or away from it, our journey is ongoing at all times.

We are getting closer and closer to our death every day. Sadly, this human ties long hopes while death stands close to him and smiles, and such a veil is over our intellect that we completely forget death, even though we also know that one day every person has to leave this world, has to leave all this behind.

Those who disobey Allah Ta‘ala are in the pit of darknesses. Allah Ta‘ala has also made ways to come out of them.

Sayyiduna Hazrat Siddeeq-e-Akbar rz said, there are five types of darknesses and for them there are five types of lamps.

1. Love of the world is a darkness and taqwa and piety is its lamp.
2. Sin is a darkness and taubah is its lamp.
3. The grave is a darkness and its lamp is the kalima.
4. The hereafter is a darkness and its lamp is good deeds.
5. The bridge of sirat is a darkness and its lamp is yaqeen.

If arrangements for lamps for these five darknesses are not made, then the entire life of the hereafter will become dark.

How many people there were who populated these lands and towns before us. Today they are not present in the world.

Someone comes, someone goes, the color of the gathering remains the same.
The favor of the cupbearer continues, the guests keep changing.

Today we are guests on the earth, tomorrow there will be new faces. Where did those people go? If I mention them today, the mention no longer remains. Those who spent life in great pride and arrogance are lying buried inside graves, and the wind is blowing the dust of those graves. What spotless faces there were that today are not present in the world. This is the system of nature, whoever came to the world has to leave one day.

Allah Ta‘ala said to the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhivasallam, We have not written for any human to stay here forever. Surely this world will not remain forever. Every thing here is stained with the stain of perishability.

Neither will this youth remain forever, nor will old age remain forever, neither will this grief remain forever, nor will this happiness remain forever.

My friends, when everything here is going to perish, then why do you attach your heart to this world? We should build our home of the hereafter. If we attach our heart to the world, we will go having done only our own loss. Remember, the person who attaches his heart to the world will one day be separated from the world, and the person who attaches his heart to Allah Ta‘ala will surely be united with Him one day.

The world is not a place to attach the heart.
This is a place of lesson, not a spectacle.

An elder used to say that with the effort people buy hell, with half that effort jannah is attained.

And this is a reality, we buy hell with great effort.

For example, stealing is such a great sin. People bear hardship for it, stay awake at nights, give up the peace of the day, only then do they commit a sin like theft.

If only we had made this much effort for our deen, stayed awake at nights for Allah Ta‘ala. May Allah Ta‘ala grant us all correct understanding. Ameen.

May Allah Ta‘ala create firm and true love of deen in all our hearts and protect us all from sins. Ameen.
