Timeless Advice for a Better Life

Timeless Advice for a Better Life

Echoes Of Rehaan

Looking back at the past is not wrong. In fact, we should revisit it often so that we never forget where we started and how far Allah has brought us. Remembering our beginnings helps us remain humble and grateful.

My father once said that a person should speak about others behind their backs only what they would be willing to say to their faces. It seemed like a simple piece of advice, but I found it very difficult to practice. Yet whenever Allah granted me the ability to live by it, life felt much lighter and easier.

People often speak about good character, yet most judgments begin with appearances.

I have seen those who mistreat or insult their parents face various hardships in this world. If your parents have passed away, seek forgiveness for them and pray for their mercy. If they are alive, seek their forgiveness and honor them, for a life without their blessings can become extremely difficult.

When you constantly remind someone that they are important to you, they may begin to think more highly of themselves while gradually considering you less important.

We are often so emotional that we end relationships in a matter of seconds. Yet if we listened patiently and courageously to the other person, many conflicts would never arise.

In mathematics, if one is taken away from two, one remains. But the principle of love is different. If one is taken away from two hearts joined by love, sometimes nothing remains at all.

Whether people agree or not, there are ultimately two companions who never leave us: ourselves and Allah.

Sometimes it becomes necessary to treat people the way they treat you, so they may realize where they are right and where they are wrong.

An elder once said: True pain is the pain you feel when you see others suffering. Even animals can feel their own pain, but compassion for others is a sign of a noble heart.

Never behave toward others in a way that you yourself would dislike if it were done to you.

The concept of worship is very limited if goodness is confined only to the mosque. For a truly faithful person, the home, workplace, and every aspect of life become places of worship through sincerity and righteous conduct.

Avoid excessive and unnecessary talk. A heart that becomes occupied with everything except the remembrance of Allah gradually hardens, and a hardened heart drifts away from its Creator.

Do not look at the faults of others as though you are their master. Rather, look at them with humility, as one who is aware of his own shortcomings.

People are generally of two kinds: those who are facing trials and hardships, and those who are living in comfort and ease.

When you see someone in difficulty, show compassion and pray for their well-being. When you see someone blessed with comfort, praise Allah and thank Him for His favors.

If people developed the mindset of being happy for the safety and well-being of their brothers and sisters, many disputes, conflicts, and divisions would disappear from the world.
