FEAR OF QIYAMAH SIGNS
On one hand, we have faith that the Day of Judgement is a reality and it will certainly come, and before it comes, some of its signs must also be fulfilled. So when those signs are being fulfilled or have been partially fulfilled, why do we become worried? Meaning, when we believe that it is bound to come, then why do we become so worried or afraid of its arrival?
Answer
The reality is that Allah Ta'ala has instructed us in His Book, the Noble Quran, about the method and approach for our future. In the Quran and Hadith, the signs of the Day of Judgement that have been mentioned create an issue: when such an event occurs, difficulties arise in our present life.
For example, a hadith mentions the sign of the earth being swallowed. Then other living humans will fear that their land might also be swallowed. Actually, one should never be worried about the Day of Judgement because we are definitely going to reach it. When we become certain that our death is nothing, rather we are going to Allah Ta'ala, then there is nothing to worry about because a new life will begin again.
The only fear and worry should be that Allah Ta'ala might become displeased with us. Now, the way to avoid this worry has been told to us by Allah Ta'ala in the Noble Quran, so that we may save ourselves from Allah Ta'ala's displeasure. The most famous hadith related to the Day of Judgement is the Hadith of Jibreel, which is present in various books of hadith.
*Hadith:*
Musaddad narrated to us, he said: Ismail bin Ibrahim narrated to us, Abu Hayyan At-Taimi informed us, from Abu Zur’ah, from Abu Hurairah, who said: One day the Prophet ï·º was sitting among the people when Jibreel came to him and said: "What is Imaan?"
He ï·º said: "Imaan is to believe in Allah, His angels, the meeting with Him, His messengers, and to believe in the Resurrection."
He asked: "What is Islam?"
He ï·º said: "Islam is to worship Allah and not associate anything with Him, to establish the prayer, to pay the obligatory Zakah, and to fast in Ramadan."
He asked: "What is Ihsan?"
He ï·º said: "It is to worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot see Him, then indeed He sees you."
He asked: "When is the Hour?"
He ï·º said: "The one being asked does not know more than the questioner. But I will inform you of its signs: When a slave woman gives birth to her master, and when the barefooted, destitute shepherds of camels compete with one another in constructing tall buildings. The knowledge of the Hour is among the five things which no one knows except Allah."
Then the Prophet ï·º recited: "Indeed, Allah has knowledge of the Hour" [Surah Luqman, Ayah 34]. Then the man turned away.
He ï·º said: "Bring him back." But they did not see anything. He ï·º said: "This was Jibreel, who came to teach the people their religion." Abu Abdullah [Imam Bukhari] said: He ï·º considered all of these as part of Imaan. [Sahih Bukhari 50, 4777]
The explanation of this has been given by the Messenger of Allah ï·º. You must have already studied the Noble Quran, and the books of hadith are available to you. In this study, the method for success in the Hereafter has also been described, and we can also gain greater benefit in our present life.
