Dawat with wisdom
If weakness enters into dawat, weakness will also enter into the effort.
This work will continue with the temperament of a caller towards Allah.
Those engaged in this work should have patience in their nature, so that they bear all hardships and unpleasant situations that come in this path. Patience and endurance are what are tested in this work.
Narrow-mindedness creates sects, not an Ummah. A da'i possesses broad-mindedness.
Dawat is universal, and wisdom comes before words.
There is no wisdom greater than honoring people. Wisdom comes first and good speech comes afterward, because wisdom is what makes people accept the message.
There is no greater way of conveying dawat than wisdom. For this reason, Allah made even the prophets tend sheep.
The requirements of acceptance
Strive to make yourself accepted by Allah. The requirement of acceptance is that our entire lives become an example while carrying out this work.
Hazrat Ji (RA) used to say that the lives of those engaged in this work are collective lives. People will observe your dealings, character, and conduct.
This is Allah’s principle and Allah’s law. Allah will take this work from those who fulfill His standards.
There should be such progress in our dealings and character that we become guides for the religion.
The first question is whether we have become examples in our personal lives, so that Allah may take work from us. This work belongs to Allah, and Allah Himself is the protector of His religion. Allah will entrust this work to those through whom He chooses to safeguard His religion.
Hazrat Ji (RA) used to say that the one whose personal connection with Allah is weak cannot establish a link with Allah. Therefore, one's personal relationship with Allah should be deep and strong.
Allah Himself chooses people for the work of religion. For worldly work, people make the selection, but for religious work, Allah Himself chooses.
Giving importance to the sunnahs
Observing the sunnahs will bring down the help of Allah.
The deeds that earn the pleasure of Allah attract His help. Allah has placed special qualities and blessings within the sunnahs.
We must adopt the sunnahs from three perspectives:
1. The sunnahs of dawat.
2. The sunnahs of worship.
3. The sunnahs of daily life.
The sunnahs of dawat are those efforts that were common among all the prophets. This work should be carried out with the temperament of prophethood and the spirit of the companions.
The sunnahs of worship are that our relationship with Allah should become deep. Strive for excellence in worship. The deeper our connection with Allah, the greater the help we will receive.
The sunnahs of daily life are such that we should not feel at ease without them. It is the sunnahs that distinguish a Muslim from others.
Distinction is achieved through the sunnahs. We will stand apart from others because of the sunnahs.
The difference between us and the companions is that they practiced the sunnahs because they were sunnahs, while we often abandon them for the very same reason, saying, "It is only a sunnah."
Principles of dawat – part 1
What should be the temperament of those engaged in this work? Not everyone should follow his own temperament. Rather, the temperament of prophethood should prevail in this work.
The greatest quality in the temperament of prophethood is gentleness. Therefore, this work is not based on harshness but on mutual consultation and understanding. A da'i should possess gentleness.
All the principles of dawat are based on obedience. This work is advanced through encouragement and motivation.
Reduce violations of principles rather than magnifying them. Teach the principles to companions when mistakes occur.
Our work is based on reminding people. Continue reminding them. This work will be carried out by those who have been forgetful; angels are not going to descend for it.
Do not search for the faults of others. Even if you notice a mistake, do not publicize it. The one who spreads news of another's wrongdoing commits an even greater wrong. Backbiting is a greater sin than adultery.
Spreading news of mistakes and violations causes falsehood to spread.
Focus on sacrifices
Keep your eyes on your own shortcomings and on the sacrifices of your companions. This develops selflessness and strengthens unity.
Concealing the mistakes of others becomes a means of encouragement.
In our effort, we speak about the things that we want to bring into practice.
There are two types of violations in this path:
1. Violations related to the work.
2. Violations related to those doing the work.
If someone wrongs you personally, overlook it. If a mistake is made regarding the work itself, seek forgiveness from Allah.
Neither were the prophets commanded to complain about people, nor did they like others bringing complaints to them.
Pray for the forgiveness of your companions. The Messenger of Allah ï·º even sought forgiveness for the polytheists.
