There are different sayings about huzur sallallahu alaihivasallam’s children. The most reliable and authentic saying is that there were 3 sons hazrat qasim, hazrat abdullah who was also called tayyab and tahir, and hazrat ibrahim, and 4 daughters hazrat zenab, hazrat ruqayya, hazrat umme qulsoom, and hazrat fatima raziyallahu anhuma. Hazrat qasim was born first among aap’s children and lived only 2 years. He passed away before nabvi be'asat. Aap sallallahu alaihivasallam’s kunniyat abu qasim was taken from him. Hazrat zainab raziyallahu anha is eldest among aap sallallahu alaihivasallam’s daughters. She was born 10 years before be'asat and accepted islam. She migrated after badar. She was married to cousin hazrat abul aas bin rabi'a, and passed away in 8 hijri. She left one son hazrat ali and one daughter hazrat umama raziyallahu anha as her remembrance. After hazrat fatima raziyallahu anha passed away, hazrat ali raziyallahu anhu married hazrat umama raziyallahu anha. And when hazrat ali raziyallahu anhu was martyred, he willed to mugira bin nofil to marry umama.
*Misfortune of abu lahab and his sons*
Hazrat ruqaiya raziyallahu anha and hazrat umme kulsoom raziyallahu anha, both daughters, were engaged to abu lahab’s sons. Hazrat ruqayya rd to utba and hazrat umme kulsoom rd to uraiba. Only nikah happened, rukhsati did not happen. When tabbat yada abi lahab was revealed, both sons divorced both daughters on their father’s order.
*Hazrat ruqayya raziyallahu anha*
Aap sallallahu alaihivasallam married hazrat ruqayya rd to hazrat usman raziyallahu anhu. When hazrat usman rd migrated to habsha, hazrat ruqayya rd was also with him. There a child was born to them whose name was abdullah. He lived 6 years and passed away. When aap sallallahu alaihivasallam left for gazwa e badar, hazrat ruqaiya rd was ill, so hazrat usman rd could not join gazwa e badar and stayed to care for her. The day hazrat zaid rd bin haris came to madina munavvara with news of islam’s victory badar fatah, hazrat ruqaiya rd passed away. At that time her age was 20 years.
*Hazrat umme kulsoom raziyallahu anha*
After hazrat ruqayya raziyallahu anha’s death, in rabiul avval 2 hijri she came into hazrat usman raziyallahu anhu’s nikah. She stayed with hazrat usman rd for 6 years and had no children. She passed away in shaban 9 hijri.
*Greatness of hazrat usman raziyallahu*
When hazrat umme kulsum rd passed away, rasulullah sallallahu alaihivasallam said, if i had 10 daughters, i would keep giving them one after another in marriage to usman.
*Hazrat ibrahim raziyallahu anhu*
Hazrat ibrahim rd is aap sallallahu alaihivasallam’s last child, born from hazrat maariya qibtiya in zilhijja 8 hijri. He lived around 15-16 months and passed away in 10 hijri.
*Hazrat fatima raziyallahu anha*
Hazrat fatima raziyallahu anha was aap sallallahu alaihivasallam’s youngest daughter. Johra and batool were her two titles. She was born in the first year of baisat, and ibne jozi rh say she was born 5 years before baisat when quresh were building khana kaaba. In 2 hijri she was married to hazrat ali raziyallahu anhu. According to one saying, at that time hazrat fatima rd was 15 years 5.5 months and hazrat ali rd was 21 years 5 months. And according to another saying, hazrat fatima rd was 19 years 1.5 months and hazrat ali rd was 24 years 1.5 months. After aap sallallahu alaihivasallam’s death, she passed away in ramzan 11 hijri. Hazrat fatima rd was most beloved to rasulullah sallallahu alaihivasallam. Aap often said, o fatima, are you not pleased that you are leader of all women of jannat. When aap went on travel, he met hazrat fatima rd last, and when he returned from travel, he met her first. Hazrat fatima rd had 5 children, 3 sons hazrat hasan, hazrat husain and hazrat mohsin raziyallahu anhum, and 2 daughters hazrat umme kulsoom rd and hazrat zenab rd. Except for hazrat fatima rd, aap sallallahu alaihivasallam’s lineage did not continue from any other daughter. Hazrat mohsin passed away in childhood. Hazrat umar raziyallahu anhu married hazrat umme kulsoom rd, and hazrat zenab rd was married to abdullah bin jaafar raziyallahu anhu.
