Gatherings of shahadat and wrong practices in muharram
Gatherings of shahadat
Thinking yaume ashura as the day of shahadat of sayyadna hazrat husain raziyallahu anhu and then doing acts of maatam and noha, crying, showing restlessness, and holding gatherings of shahadat in every house, reciting shahadat nama or wafaat nama, especially against original narrations, this is haraam. In hadith paak, aap sallallahu alaihivasallam forbade marsiyo wafaat nama. And narrating against authentic report is haraam in all cases.
*Setting up sabeel, distributing sharbat, khichda*
Distributing sharbat, khichda, in which showing off has major role, and considering it necessary for every rich and poor to take it, and treating it as tabarruk, and thinking bad of one who does not take, taunting him. Setting up sabeel of milk, sharbat and collecting chanda for it, and speaking ill of one who does not give, especially doing it in these days, if done intentionally with intention of reward, then this is bid'at zalala. And taking from such sadaqaat is makrooh for rich, and haraam for sayyad. And taunting one who does not take is fisq. Faqat wallahu aalam.
*Not marrying in muharram*
Not marrying in muharram, safar and shaban is based on the belief that these months are unlucky. Islam does not hold this view. In muharram sayyadna hazrat husain raziyallahu anhu was martyred, but it does not mean that nikah became forbidden in this month. Otherwise in every month some personality passed away who was even greater than hazrat husain raziyallahu anhu. This would mean nikah should not be done in any of the 12 months of the year. Also, considering the month of shahadat as a month of mourning and bad luck is wrong.
*Wrong practices of muharram*
1. Status of calling sayyadna hazrat husain raziyallahu anhu imam. The word imam is used by ahle haqq and also by shia. With ahle haqq its meaning is leader, guide, and followed one. With ahle tashee'a shia people, imam is knower of unseen and infallible. With them imam’s rank is even higher than prophets. Obviously in using this word imam we mean what ahle haqq mean. In this sense all sahaba ikram, taba'ien, awliya allah and ulama are imam. So saying imam abu bakar, imam umar, imam usman, imam ali, imam abu haraira raziyallahu anhum is correct. Rasulullah sallahu alaihivasallam said, all my sahaba are like stars. Meaning all are imam, follow any you want. There is light in every star, take light from whichever you want. In this meaning all sahaba ikram raziyallahu anhum are imam. Point to think is that people do not say imam abu bakar, do not say imam umar, they only say imam hasan and imam husain. It shows this effect came to muslims from others. Shia influence clearly entered muslims. If any ahle haqq ulama called these hazraat imam, then they said imam in the correct meaning of leader, guide and followed one. But it definitely creates confusion, so avoiding it is necessary.
2. Using alaihissalam. Similarly, calling sayyadna hazrat husain raziyallahu anhu alaihissalam is done by those people who give them the rank of ambiya alaihissalam. Avoiding this is also necessary. Just like the dua words raziyallahu ta'aala anhu are written and said, similar dua words should be written and said with hazraate hasnain raziyallahu anhum.
3. Shia influence in muslim names. In muslim names also shia influence is found. For example, just like muhammad and ahmed are added to original name only for tabarruk, similarly ali, hasan, husain are added. But siddiq, farooq, usman or any other sahabi’s name is not added for tabarruk with original name. Relation of slavery is also made toward hazrat ali, hazrat hasan, hazrat husain raziyallahu anhum, but not toward any other sahabi. Among women also, kaneez fatima name is found, but kaneez khatija, kaneez aaisha and other azwaaz e mutahraat and kaneez zainab, kaneez kalsum sahab zadiyo'n raziyallahu anhuma are not heard. Even worse, shirkiya names like altaf husain, fazal husain and faizul hasan are also found a lot among muslims.
