The Beauty of Character and the Purpose of Life
Seek the company of those whose character is excellent. It is not necessary that those surrounded by crowds are also the friends of Allah, for even magicians can gather people around them.
In life, every person does not always make the right decisions. Some decisions are made in anger and haste, some under the pressure of emotions, and sometimes intellect leaves a person for a while. Foolishness may overtake wisdom, even if only for a few moments.
Life never stops for anyone. Time never pauses for anyone. Moments never stand still even for a second. The wind keeps blowing because if it remained still forever, the breaths of life would stop.
To look life straight in the eyes and live boldly is true living. Ups and downs keep coming because the other name of life is change. The beauty of the universe lies in transformation. Human nature eventually grows tired of monotony.
We are strange people. We welcome the joys that come into life, yet we try to escape sorrow and grief as quickly as possible. Why do we not remember that the same Creator who granted us countless joys can also end the nights of sorrow and bring a new morning of happiness? Life will turn again.
Sorrow and joy are two sides of the same picture called life. Both have their own beauty, attraction, and purpose. Let us make a promise to ourselves that we will embrace life with all its realities and experiences.
Life wants to teach us many lessons, but we often refuse to learn. Intelligence is not how beautifully you think; intelligence is how wisely you move through the path life places before you.
A human being is like a lonely tree standing in the scorching desert of life. Protect yourself from the termites of regret. Do not isolate yourself, for loneliness is a deep darkness where it becomes difficult to see what is increasing and what is fading away.
You may fall in love with someone's beauty, but remember that lives are lived through character and actions, not beauty.
The records of deeds are open, the pens are writing, life still remains, the body is healthy, and repentance is being accepted. Before life is taken away, before the book of deeds is closed, and before the body returns to dust, reconcile with your Lord, repent sincerely, seek forgiveness, and strive to save yourself from eternal loss.
Surely the maidens of Paradise will be beautiful, but they can never be compared to that blessed woman who supported a believer through the hardships of this world and became a means for his entrance into Paradise.
Then I calmly asked, “Where do you live?” and it pointed toward Allah, the Lord of Honor.
A strange peace is found when tears flow from the eyes out of the fear of Allah, the Lord of Honor.
Someone shattered the heart into pieces, but the true sorrow was that not a single piece carried the sincere name of Allah upon it.
A person who becomes angry with you but does not break the relationship is your true friend in difficult times.
Be loyal like the grass growing along a riverbank. When a drowning person grabs hold of it, either it saves him or drowns alongside him.
Be like salt in the lives of your friends—unseen, yet deeply missed when absent.
Never trust your age or your wealth, because anything that can be counted is destined to come to an end.
Those who change friends and relationships like clothes ultimately belong to no one.
If someone asks you what life is, place a little dust on your palm and blow it away.
Live like a lamp that gives the same light in a king’s palace as it gives in a poor man’s hut.
If you have nothing else to give someone, then offer a smile. Believe that this simple gift may be more valuable than many treasures.
When a person thinks positively, Allah opens doors and makes difficulties easy. Whatever your Lord brings close to you, seek wisdom in it, and whatever He removes from you, adopt patience. Understanding the wisdom behind Allah’s decisions is beyond human comprehension.
Do not fear the wealthy; fear the sigh of the poor. When a wealthy person seeks justice, he goes to a judge, but when the oppressed poor person raises his hands, he turns directly to Allah.
As long as a person has not received water, he feels he may die of thirst. Yet the moment he drinks, he becomes occupied with other concerns and forgets his desperation.
Remember, no one dies from thirst alone. Everyone dies at their appointed time and in the manner Allah has decreed. Yet in this world, countless desires become our thirst, causing us to experience the pain of loss and longing again and again.
By belittling, insulting, or proving others inferior, no one has ever become truly great. True greatness lies in considering others better than oneself and remaining humble.
Breaking connections does not always end love. We continue to remember even those who have left this world.
What Allah has written for you can never belong to someone else. Therefore, be content, remove jealousy, hatred, and resentment from your heart, and learn to live with sincerity and purity of intention.
One should not overthink the thing one loves most. Excessive thinking creates doubts, and doubts destroy love.
Love is not gained through effort or struggle alone. It is a gift, a matter of destiny, and a sign of great fortune. In the journey of this world, love is the closest thing to heaven.
The life of one who becomes familiar with love leaves prose and enters poetry. Such a person laughs without reason, cries without cause, and sees a reflection of his own story in every tale of affection and every story of sorrow.
