The method of dawah work – guidance from maulana ilyas rahmatullah alaih
Today everyone talks from his own experiences and his own way. Instead of this, bring into your study the sayings of maulana ilyas rahmatullah alaih, the speeches of maulana yusuf rahmatullah alaih, and books like hayat us sahaba. Allah has placed the guidance of all humans till qayamah in dawah. Our entire system should be on the way of the sahaba kiraam.
In our discussions, the mention of imaniyat should be the most. The more you describe the greatness of allah, the more your connection with allah will increase. Certainty in allah will be for those people who remember allah collectively. Establish circles of iman in masajid. Bringing people into the environment of the masjid and talking is the real meeting. The purpose of all our meetings is to gather the people of iman in the masjid. The purpose of the effort of the two and a half hour gasht is to populate the masajid with people of iman. Meet every home and every person, but the effort should be to bring them to the masjid.
Two works: circle of iman and circle of taleem. First of all, encourage that person to come to the masjid. If he makes an excuse, then fix a time for him to come to the masjid in future. Then, after consultation, appoint a companion to talk to him.
In imaniyat, mention these matters more:
Introduce allah among the servants of allah. Describe the power of allah and the greatness of allah. Narrate the incidents of the anbiya alaihimus salam. Mention the unseen helps given to sahaba kiraam raziyallahu anhum. Through these things, certainty in the promises of allah will be created.
We have to prove it through our own selves. We should practice our prayers. Our work is not only to call the ummah toward prayer but to make them practice it. We should prove through ourselves that we are progressing in deeds through dawah. Give great importance to tahajjud. By offering tahajjud, there will be allah’s help in the day’s work. Wake up before true dawn and recite the noble quran. Allah will make you a wali, but only if you are careful with the sunnahs.
Recite the morning and evening azkar. Be regular with the morning and evening deeds. In solitude, be particular about the zikr of allah. Do the zikr of allah with attention, with wudu, in solitude. If the zikr of allah is done without attention, then it is innovation and haram. This is what maulana ilyas rahmatullah alaih used to say.
Ibn qayyim rahmatullah alaih said:
Whoever does not do the work of dawah cannot claim to follow the noble prophet ﷺ. Do not be proud that you are wealthy or hold high rank. Be proud that you are a worker of allah and one who does the work of the noble prophet ﷺ.
Do you stop performing hajj because of the bad manners of some haji? Do you stop praying because of the bad manners of some worshipper? Then why do you stop tabligh because of the bad manners of tabligh workers?
Do not say that we have seen the tabligh people. Look at the work and whose work it is. We are only postmen and intermediaries. Do not say that I am doing the work of the messenger of allah ﷺ, because saying this produces pride. Among the sahaba kiraam, no one said we are doing the work of a prophet. Rather, they only conveyed the message.
When rustam asked, he was told: we have come with the message of allah. It is the truth. But while working, also maintain fear.
Avoid every talk that produces pride. Words of pride slowly bring a person down. For tarbiyat, time is needed. There is a system of time for it. Whoever gives time for allah, allah will fill his heart with the light of wisdom.
Tabligh does not just mean forming groups or gatherings, but changing qualities and certainty in the ummah. Guidance is in allah’s control. He may give it to anyone. So work hard for everyone. It may be that what is not destined for our children is destined for our neighbor.
If one waits for the guidance of family members, then hazrat nuh alaihis salam could not have done tabligh, because his son and wife did not accept iman.
It is not our responsibility to set someone right, but it is our duty to make the effort to set right. When obligations are being abandoned, then tabligh becomes obligatory. There is an incident that in multan, one companion asked 21 people the name of our prophet, and 19 did not know. When such conditions exist in homes, sitting idle is a great wrong, there is no excuse for it.
Go with consultation, avoid self-opinion and following desires. Avoid sarcasm and objections, because sarcasm breaks the ummah.
Keep your hearts alive. Put your heart in the quran, put your heart in the work of deen, and also put your heart in solitude.
