THE OCCASIONS OF WORSHIP FOR MUSLIMS HAVE TURNED INTO FESTIVALS LIKE OTHER PEOPLE.
PEOPLE THINK THAT THE TWO EIDS ARE JUST MUSLIM FESTIVALS.
IF NON-MUSLIMS THINK THIS WAY, IT IS UNDERSTANDABLE BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT EID REALLY IS.
BUT IF A MUSLIM THINKS OF EID AS JUST A FESTIVAL, THEN IT IS A MATTER OF SURPRISE.
NON-MUSLIMS USED TO CELEBRATE CERTAIN DAYS AS FESTIVALS IN THE ERA OF IGNORANCE BEFORE ISLAM.
THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD ï·º SAID TO HIS COMPANIONS (RA):
ALLAH HAS GIVEN YOU IN PLACE OF THOSE DAYS TWO BETTER DAYS—EID-UL-FITR AND EID-UL-ADHA.
TODAY I SAY WITH FULL CONFIDENCE THAT IF YOU LOOK BACK 300 YEARS BEFORE MAULANA ILYAS SAHAB (RA), SUCH WORK WAS NEVER DONE BEFORE.
HUMANITY IS BENEFITING. IN OTHER FIELDS, ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE INTEREST COME FORWARD, BUT TABLEEGH IS SUCH AN EFFORT THAT REACHES EVEN THOSE WHO HAVE NO INTEREST. IT IS A WORK THAT HAS BEEN DONE EVEN AMONG THOSE WITHOUT ANY DESIRE.
TODAY THE BIGGEST DISEASE OF THE UMMAH IS LACK OF INTEREST. FOR THOSE WITHOUT INTEREST, THERE IS NO MORE BENEFICIAL WORK THAN TABLEEGH.
GOING AFTER PEOPLE, AND FOLLOWING THE GUIDANCE OF SHARIAH—THIS IS THE BEAUTY OF THE PROPHETS, THAT THEY USED TO GO AFTER PEOPLE.
EVEN IF SOMEONE SPENDS 50 YEARS IN WORSHIP AT HOME, HIS WORSHIP WILL NOT BRING HIS NEIGHBOR TO THE DEEN IF THE MESSAGE OF ALLAH IS NOT CONVEYED TO HIM AND NO EFFORT IS MADE FOR HIM.
TABLEEGH IS A GREAT TRADE, AND THE ONE WHO ENGAGES IN IT NEVER SUFFERS LOSS.
THIS IS MY PATH—I CALL PEOPLE TOWARDS ALLAH. THIS IS THE PATH THAT FOLLOWS PRINCIPLES AND SHARIAH.
WHOEVER FOLLOWS THE PRINCIPLES OF SHARIAH WILL DEFINITELY REACH ALLAH.
In today’s time, when people are deeply occupied in worldly pursuits and gradually drifting away from Deen, Tablighi Jamaat stands as a movement that calls Muslims back towards the path of Allah.
The fundamental purpose of Tablighi Jamaat is to encourage every Muslim to live their life according to Deen and to convey the message of Islam to others. This movement does not work for politics or fame, but purely for the sake of seeking Allah’s pleasure.
This effort was initiated by Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Kandhlawi, who realized that Muslims were becoming distant from basic Islamic teachings. Through دعوت, effort, and education, he started this mission which has now spread across the world.
The working method of Tablighi Jamaat is simple yet highly effective. Muslims take out time in the path of Allah — for 3 days, 40 days, or 4 months — during which they stay in mosques, learn the basics of Deen, and convey the message to others.
The movement is built upon six fundamental principles:
Kalimah (renewal of faith)
Salah (establishing regular prayer)
Knowledge and remembrance of Allah
Respect for fellow Muslims
Sincerity of intention
دعوت and conveying the message
One of the most remarkable aspects of Tablighi Jamaat is that it transforms ordinary individuals into callers towards Deen. There is no requirement of high academic qualification; rather, every person contributes according to their ability.
This effort has changed the lives of millions — people have returned to prayer, distanced themselves from sins, and started living according to Islamic teachings. All of this is by the grace of Allah and the blessings of this sincere effort.
Even today, there is a strong need for us to take time out from our busy lives and strive for Deen. Tablighi Jamaat is not just a movement; it is a means of transforming one’s life.
May Allah grant us understanding of Deen, the ability to act upon it, and include us among those who serve His religion. Ameen.
