Hazrat husain raziyallahu anhu saw huzur sallallahu alaihivasallam in dream
Hazrat husain raziyallahu anhu was sitting in his tent. In this state drowsiness came and eyes closed. He woke up with a voice. Aap’s sister hazrat zenab raz came running. He said, i saw rasulullah sallallahu alaihivasallam in dream. He said, now you are coming to us. Sister hearing this started crying. Hazrat husain raz consoled her. In this state shimar came in front with army and announced qitaal without delay. Hazrat husain raz asked for one night’s respite so i can do will and prayer and dua and astagfaar tonight. Shimar, after consulting, gave respite.
*Speech of hazrat husain raziyallahu anhu*
Hazrat husain raz gathered his ahle bait and companions and gave a khutba. After hamd and sana, darood and salaam, said, i think tomorrow is our last day. I happily give permission to all of you that all disperse in this night’s darkness and go where you find refuge, and each take the hand of one from my ahle bait and spread in different areas. Because the enemy seeks me. If he gets me, he will not turn to others. Hearing this speech, aap’s brothers, children, brothers’ children, and children of abdullah bin jaafar raz, banu aqeel, all together with one voice said, wallah we will never go. May allah ta'ala not keep us alive after you.
*Will to ahle bait*
Hazrat husain raz gave will to his sister hazrat zenab raz and ahle bait, i give you oath of god that after my shahadat you do not tear clothes, and do not do chest beating etc ever. Save from loud crying and shouting. After this will, aap and all companions became busy in night of tahajjud and dua and astagfaar. This was the night of ashura and in morning was day of ashura and friday.
*Har bin yazeed with hazrat husain raziyallahu anhu*
In morning right after prayer, amr bin sa'ad came in front with army. At that time with hazrat husain raz there were 72 companions. 30 riders and 40 footmen. Aap also arranged rows for confrontation. Amr bin sa'ad divided his army into 4 parts and made an ameer for each part. Among them ameer of one part was har bin yazeed, who was sent first with army of one thousand, and was walking with hazrat husain raz, and had been affected by his khutbas. In his heart the passion of love for ahle bait athaar had awakened. He rode his horse and joined hazrat husain raz’s army and said, i did not estimate that these people will reach this limit against you. If i knew, i would never have stopped you. Now my punishment is this that i give my life fighting with you. And same happened.
*Confrontation of both armies and address of hazrat husain raziyallahu anhu*
Hazrat husain raz mounted horse and came forward and with loud voice said, people listen to me, do not hurry, so that i give the right advice which is on me and so that i tell the reason for my coming here. Then if you accept my excuse and consider my word true and do justice with me, then in this is your success and fortune. And then there is no way for you to fight me. And if you do not accept my excuse, then you all together decide your matter and gather your partners so that your matter has no doubt to you, then do with me and do not give me respite. These are the same words that hazrat nooh alaihissalam said to his nation.
When hazrat husain raz’s these words reached the ears of sisters and women, they could not control. Voices of crying became loud. Hazrat husain raz sent his brother abbas raz to advise them and make them quiet. And at that time said, may allah ta'ala have mercy on ibne abbas. He said right that do not take women with you.
After hamd and sana, said, o people, you look at my lineage, who am i. Then think in your hearts, is it allowed for you to kill me. Am i not the son of your nabi sallallahu alaihivasallam’s daughter. Am i not the son of that father who was rasulullah sallallahu alaihivasallam’s cousin and wali of believers. Is not sayyadul shohda hazrat hamza raz my father’s uncle. Is not jaafar tayaar my uncle. Has not this famous hadith reached you that rasulullah sallallahu alaihivasallam called me and my brother hasan sayyada shabab ahlal jannat and coolness of his eyes. If you do not believe my word, then among you there are people from whom this can be confirmed. Are these things not enough to stop you from shedding my blood. Tell me, did i kill anyone that in qisas you are killing me, or did i loot anyone’s wealth or hurt anyone.
After this hazrat husain raz called by name the big chiefs of kuffa, o sheesh bin rabi, o hijaz bin zahra, o qais bin ashas, o zaid bin haris, did you people not write letters to call me. All these people denied that we did not write. Hazrat husain raz said, i have your letters with me. After this said, o people, if you do not like my coming, then leave me. I will go to some land where i get safety. Qais bin ashas said, why do you not submit to your cousin ibne ziyaad’s order. He is then your brother. He will not do bad with you. Hazrat husain raz said, after killing of muslim bin aqeel raz also this is your opinion. Wallah i will never accept it.
After this hazrat zubair bin alqeen raz advised, stop from this action of yours, oppressors. Even now come to senses. Fatma raz’s son is more deserving of love and respect than sumaiya’s son ibne ziyaad. After this har bin yazeed also gave address.
*Shimar’s first arrow*
When talk became long, shimar shot the first arrow. When har bin yazeed addressed, arrows were thrown at him too. After this the chain of archery started. Many of enemies were also killed. Some of hazrat husain raz’s companions were also martyred. Fierce battle happened. Leaving horses, they came on foot. Now enemies started setting fire to tents.
*Time of zuhar prayer in fierce battle*
Most companions of hazrat husain raz were martyred and enemy groups had reached near hazrat husain raz. Abu shamama sa'adi said, may my life be sacrificed on you. I want to be killed in front of you. But heart wants that it is time for zuhar, i offer this prayer and go before lord.
Hazrat husain raz raised voice and said, suspend war till we offer prayer. Who listens in such fierce battle. And abu shamama was martyred in this state. After him hazrat husain raz with his few companions offered zuhar prayer as salatul khof. After prayer, qitaal started again. Everyone wanted to be martyred first in front of hazrat husain raz. So every person was fighting with great intensity and bravery. Hazrat husain raz’s elder son hazrat ali akbar raz came forward reciting this poetry, translation: i am son of husain bin ali raz. By oath of rabbul bait, we are nearer to rasool sallallahu alaihivasallam. Wretched murrah bin munqaz struck him with spear and dropped him and cut his body to pieces. Amr bin sa'ad struck sword on head of hazrat qasim bin hasan raz. Hazrat husain raz searched and handled him, and attacked amr with sword, due to which his hand was cut from elbow. Aap lifted his nephew’s body and laid it near bodies of his son and other ahle bait.
Hazrat husain raz remained almost alone without helper. But no one had courage to advance toward him. No one wanted to take sin of hazrat husain raz’s killing on his head. Here till a hard hearted man of tribe kundah, malik bin naseer, came forward and attacked hazrat husain raz’s head with sword. Aap was severely wounded. He called his small son abdullah raz and sat him in his lap. An unfortunate from bani asad shot an arrow and martyred him too. Hazrat husain raz took that innocent child’s blood and spread it on ground and prayed, o allah, you take our revenge from these oppressors.
