What to do if ablution breaks during prayer?

A brother's question: What should one do if one's ablution breaks during prayer?

If a person's *wudu (ablution)* breaks during congregational prayer, it is obligatory for them to quietly leave the prayer, perform *wudu* again, and then rejoin the prayer if possible. Continuing the prayer without *wudu* due to shyness or embarrassment is not permissible, and the prayer will be invalid.

In Islam, *purity* is a condition for the validity of prayer. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

*"Allah does not accept the prayer of any of you when you are impure until you perform wudu."*

(Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)

If someone knowingly continues praying without *wudu*, this is a major sin, and they must seek forgiveness (*taubah*). It’s better to quietly excuse oneself from the row than to displease Allah by knowingly offering an invalid prayer.

*🔹 Roman Urdu:*

Agar jamaat ke dauran kisi shakhs ka wudu toot jaye to us par laazmi hai ke woh chup chaap saf se nikal jaye, dobara wudu kare aur agar waqt ho to namaz mein phir se shamil ho jaye. Sirf sharam ki wajah se namaz jaari rakhna jaiz nahi hai, aur aisi namaz baatil hoti hai.

Islam mein namaz ki sahih hone ke liye taharat (wudu) zaroori hai. Rasool Allah ﷺ ne farmaya:

*"Allah paak kisi bay wudu ki namaz qabool nahi karta jab tak ke woh wudu na kare."*

(Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)

Agar koi shakhs jaante hue bina wudu ke namaz padhta rahe, to yeh kabira gunaah hai, aur usay foran taubah karni chahiye.
