Darul Ummah Islamic Institute: Serving the Ummah Through Online Knowledge Since 2017
Knowledge holds the highest place in Islam. The very first revelation sent to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ began with “Iqra” — Read, in the name of your Lord. The Companions, the Imams, and our elders spent their lives preserving this knowledge and passing it on, so that coming generations would not be deprived of the light of the Quran and Sunnah. Today times have changed. Technology has changed the way we learn. Now knowledge can be gained from any corner of the world while sitting at home. Understanding this change, some sincere people wished to deliver authentic religious education to every Muslim through digital means. With this intention, Darul Ummah Islamic Institute was founded in 2017.
When this journey began, the purpose was only one: to give Muslim children and adults knowledge that is authentic, easy, and available at home. Many parents, especially those living in non-Muslim countries or far-off areas, cannot find good teachers for their children. To remove this difficulty, online classes were started. In the beginning it was a small effort. But by the grace of Allah, when people saw the benefit, trust grew. Today, students from different countries are connected with this institute and are learning Quran, Tajweed, and religious education. The greatest strength of this institute is that it has no borders. Whether Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East or America, children from everywhere join the online class. For knowledge, you need no visa, no travel cost. With only intention and internet, the words of Allah can be learned. Seeing this brings joy to the heart, that children of different languages, colors, and countries sit together and read “Alif Baa Taa.” Their purpose is one: to please Allah.
The real focus of Darul Ummah is to strengthen the students’ bond with the Quran. Not just reading, but correct recitation, proper tone, and respect for the Quran in the heart. Because the Quran is not just a book to read, it is the constitution of life. With daily practice, the words of Allah begin to flow easily on a child’s tongue. And when a child starts to understand what his Lord is saying to him, his life changes. It is the duty of every Muslim to read the Quran just as the Prophet ﷺ recited it. That is why special attention is given to teaching Tajweed. Teachers patiently teach the articulation point of each letter, its qualities, and the rules. So that the Quran comes from the students’ tongues without mistake. When a child recites with correct pronunciation, a different light appears on his face. This effort benefits both in this world and the hereafter.
Knowledge is not just the name of reading Quran. A Muslim must understand his religion completely. That is why beliefs, worship, the life of the Prophet ﷺ, character, daily supplications, and basic issues of fiqh are also taught. This way a child does not just become a Qari, but an aware Muslim. He knows how to pray, how to treat parents, why to avoid lying. These small things together build a good personality. Knowledge and character go hand in hand. The Prophet ﷺ said he was sent to perfect character. If a person becomes arrogant or rude after gaining knowledge, then that knowledge becomes a burden. That is why in every lesson children are taught gentleness, patience, truthfulness, and respect for elders. So that tomorrow these children are not only scholars, but people of character who serve the Ummah.
The life of any institute is its teachers. The teachers of Darul Ummah do not just teach, they also become friends and guides for the children. They treat them with kindness, understand their weaknesses, and give them courage. The influence of a sincere teacher stays with a student for life. The effort is that every child learns love and respect along with knowledge from the teacher. The greatest blessing of online education is that parents do not have to send children far away. In front of their eyes, in the peaceful environment of their home, the child learns religion. Parents themselves can listen to the class and see the child’s progress. Timings are set according to different time zones, so that a child from any country can join easily. This ease is a huge blessing in today’s busy age.
The future of the Ummah is in the hands of our children. If today we give them correct religious education, tomorrow they will stand firm even in times of trials. Otherwise the culture of the enemy will color them in its shade. Darul Ummah tries to make the foundation of every child so strong that whether he becomes a doctor or an engineer, his heart stays connected to Allah. He may earn the world but not forget his deen. Mobile and internet are often called bad. But the real thing is intention and use. If the same mobile can be used for immorality, it can also be used to read Quran. We adopted this thinking. We put technology to the work of deen, so that the message of the Most Merciful spreads against shaytan. From 2017 until today, the effort has been to improve every day. Students increased, responsibility increased. But the purpose remained the same: serving the Ummah with sincerity. InshaAllah this journey will not stop here. As long as there is breath, the effort will remain to deliver the light of the Quran to more children.
Darul Ummah Islamic Institute makes no big claims. It is only a humble effort so that in every home there is someone who reads the Quran, understands it, and acts upon it. Knowledge is light. And this light should reach every heart. We pray to Allah that He accepts this small effort, grants us sincerity, and keeps our coming generations firm upon the deen. Ameen.
